Tuition

Information on tuition, student loans, fellowships, and other financial matters related to the program can be found on the GSAS Financial Aid Office website.

Stipends

HRSMA Summer Internship Stipend

The HRSMA summer internship stipend provides support to select HRSMA graduate students to undertake an unpaid summer internship that is related to their concentration and research interests. The internship may be here in the United States or abroad. Please see application form for additional details.

HRSMA Thesis Research Stipend

The HRSMA thesis stipend provides support to select HRSMA graduate students to conduct research for their thesis. Please see application form for additional details.

Fellowships

Students are encouraged to investigate fellowship opportunities listed in the Columbia University Graduate School Fellowship Database

Foreign Language Area Study (FLAS)

The FLAS fellowship is open to graduate students at Columbia who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who have been accepted for enrollment or are enrolled in a full-time program that combines foreign language training with international or area studies. Students applying to enter in the fall may apply for FLAS fellowships at the time of application to the program. Students applying for FLAS must submit both the admission application and the FLAS application, including the FLAS essay, by the FLAS deadline. The FLAS Fellowship application process is administered by the GSAS Financial Aid Office.

Other Grants and Loans

Students who are New York State residents, who plan to be full-time students, who are admitted into the program and who meet New York State eligibility requirements may qualify for a New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) grant.

Students who are completing at least six points of work a term and who show need may qualify for the Stafford Loan program.Students may be eligible for other loan programs with higher rates of interest.

Students who need part-time work may qualify for the Federal Work Study Program.

International Students

Students who are not citizens of the United States and who need authorization for special billing of tuition and/or fees to foreign institutions, agencies, or sponsors should go to the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO), 524 Riverside Drive, with two copies of the sponsorship letter. Special billing authorization is required of students whose bills are to be sent to a third party for payment. For more information, contact the ISSO office at (212) 854-3587.
