Application Process for Student Review Committee
ISHR is currently recruiting students to serve on the 2012 Human Rights Essay Contest Student Review Committee. Committee members must be currently enrolled Columbia University students. Students are not required to be enrolled in a human rights program to serve on the committee. Committee members will:
- Promote student participation in the essay contest (emailing members of student groups of which you are a member, making an announcement in your classes, speaking with classmates and peers to encourage them to participate, etc.)
- Attend a meeting in early February to receive and discuss review guidelines and essay submissions.
- Read and evaluate approximately 5 papers (papers are approx. 5,000 words) during the month of February. Evaluation guidelines will be provided by ISHR and all papers will be anonymously reviewed.
- Meet with other committee members in early March to select the papers that will be submitted for final consideration by the Faculty Review Committee.
- Interested committee members may help organize a colloquium for contest participants to present their papers.
Please note: students selected to serve on the committee will still be eligible to submit papers for consideration.
